Indian National Park with unique variety of Flora and Fauna the Valley of Flowers National Park is listed as world heritage site by UNESCO. It is located at an altitude of 3,352 m [10,997 ft] to 3,658 m [12,001 ft] above sea level western Himalayas in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Valley of Flowers National Park is 8 Km long and 2 Km wide which covers total area of 87.50 km2 uphills is situated just 23 Km north-west of Nanda Devi Park. The amazing beauty of valley is unaltered and untouched as its under government policies with UNESCO guidelines are too followed. A 15 Km Trek starts from Govindghat via Ghangaria, the common point to Hemkund Sahib trek. The Valley of Flowers is one of the Best Trek in Uttarakhand fully covered by snow in winters therefore travelers can visit destination only in summers or monsoon season. Valley is blessed with Pushpawati river from Tipra Glacier, on foot of Gauri Parbat at an altitude of 6,719 m [22,044 ft] above sea level which is highest point of area.

Flora in Valley of Flowers National Park

Higher Plants: The valley of Flowers contains 520 species of rarely found higher plant like Angiosperms, Gymnosperms and Pteridophytes out which 498 are flowering plants. Some ares of National Park is covered with Birch and Rhododendron’s Sub-Alpine forest .Ground of Valley is carpeted with Orchids, Poppies, Primulas, Marigold, Daisies and Anemones.

Medicinal Plants: Podophyllum hexadrum, Fritillaria roylei, Picrorhiza kurrooa, Dactylorhiza hatagirea, Polygonatum multiflorum and Aconitum violaceum are the very unique herbs and important medicinal plant that are found in Valley of Flowers.

Fauna in Valley of Flowers National Park

Rarely found species of animals are Asiatic Black Bear, Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Brown Bear, Red Fox, Blue Sheep, etc. Extreme  variety of beautiful birds like Himalayan Monal Pheasant and many more high altitude birds. There are 13 species of mammals and 114 species of rarely seen birds, with many many more which are not listed or sighted.
